Tell us little about who you are and what you do
My name is Caroline Juen, I like piña coladas and long walks on the beach, and I run a lifestyle blog called Love & Loathing Los Angeles! I started Love & Loathing LA intending for it to turn into a book, my mother was actually the one who suggested I start a blog - go mom - and here we are almost four years later still going strong. When I first started I thought that eventually I’d for sure run out of things to do and write about… I learned quickly that in a place as wonderful and as bustling as Los Angeles that that is actually impossible. But I’m still doing my best to experience something new in this city every week, if not every day.
You’re the queen of LA restaurants, tell us your top 3 all time favorite places to dine.
If we’re talking classics, you must have Spago, Gjelina, and Republique. If we’re talking CURRENT favorite places, those would be Felix, Salazar, and Everson Royce Bar! So many restaurants, so little time.
Where’s your favorite place to go in the city to unwind?
I love wine, I love a good patio, I love good food, and all of that seems to intersect at Esters Wine Bar in Santa Monica. They’re open almost all day, they have the most incredible wine / light bites selections, they’ve got GREAT ambiance, and just a great overall relaxed vibe.
What are your top trends for fall?
Matching pantsuit sets, statement FAUX fur coats, patchwork, velvet and anything with golden tones!
Define the California dream?
The California dream is living life in the pursuit of happiness. It’s being creative, grateful, mindful, and never for second taking for granted everything this incredible place/city/state offers us!
If you could vacation anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Right now I have an obsession with visiting a property in Utah called Amangiri… it’s minimum like $2k a night for obvious reasons, but I’m telling myself, “someday Caroline!” Other than Amangiri I’d actually really love to visit the Amalfi Coast in Italy. I absolutely loved Italy when I went 7 years ago, but I didn’t get to visit the coastal side. From the looks of it, I’d say it’d be a pretty dreamy vacation filled with all of my favorite things - food, fashion, and adventure.
Describe your signature style and how it reflects your confidence.
My signature style is tailored, classic, with an edge, a pop of color, or a twist. I don’t dress for anyone but myself and because of that I really am very content and confident in my own skin.
