Here at Gypsy05 we're all about celebrating women who inspire our brand, so this Mother's Day we want to introduce you to one of our favorite mama bears Laura Mueseler of Sequins at Breakfast. Get the deets on how she balances work and mom life while looking fabulous in the Seaton Midi Jumper.
Tell us who you are and what you do.
My name is Laura Mueseler and I write the blog Sequins at Breakfast. I started Sequins at Breakfast almost 4 years ago while living in San Diego and now I run the blog from Honolulu, Hawaii. I cover everything from fashion to food and now motherhood! My husband and I just welcomed our first child this past February and becoming a mother has been the most amazing (and challenging) experience!
What’s inspires you?
I find inspiration from so many places. Hawaii itself offers up so much inspiration in both fashion and food. From the colorful laid back, boho-island style to the fresh produce and amazingly fresh fish I find that a lot of both my style and food recipes have become a reflection of my life in Hawaii. Of course I love to follow street style for inspiration on trends as well as looking to other bloggers for styling inspiration.
How do you balance work life/ mom life?
This has been my biggest challenge since becoming a mom. I’m still learning!! My son is 3 months old so I feel like I’m slowly getting a better grasp at balancing work and mom life but I have a long way to go! I try to get as much work done during his naps as I can so that when he is awake, I can focus all my attention on him. When my husband is home on the weekends I’m able to get a lot of work done which takes some of the load off during the week.
What’s the best piece of advice another Mom has given you?
“This too shall pass” and it’s so true! The good and the bad, none of it lasts forever and remembering that little saying makes those crying fits a LOT more bearable! I actually try and savor those moments as crazy as it sounds. Those tuff times make the good times that much better.
What has given you the most joy as a mother? Describe it.
Oh my gosh! Absolutely everything about being a mother is amazing. Watching my little guy grow on a daily basis is amazing, these first few months it seems like he picks up something new almost daily. He has been smiling so much lately and that big toothless grin it is just the best thing ever!
What advice do you have for the next generation as they begin to start their own families? What would you wish for them? What advice is most critical for them to remember?
My biggest piece of advice is to enjoy every moment. Even the not so fun moments because they make the great moments that much better. You can’t spoil a baby so soak up all those newborn cuddles and snuggle them as much as you want! But also don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice from other moms or your support system, it really does take a village and if you need a little break, take it!
